Colombian police have seized 7,600 kilograms of cocaine at the port of Cartagena, in a shipment that President Abelardo de la Espriella says was destined for the Netherlands. The cocaine was hidden in a cargo of cane sugar, according to a report by Dutch news agency ANP carried by Nieuws.nl.
De la Espriella and police described the seizure as the largest in Colombia in ten years. The president said the drugs were worth hundreds of millions of euros and called the operation a “decisive blow against drug trafficking”.
