De Telegraaf intends to publish the remaining columns by Maarten Spanjer, who wrote about his hospital experiences after being diagnosed with cancer.

De Telegraaf plans to publish the columns Maarten Spanjer wrote before his death, although only seven of about 25 have appeared so far, according to Evert Santegoeds, editor-in-chief of the paper’s Privé supplement. [1]
Spanjer, an Amsterdam actor and writer who died aged 73, wrote about his experiences in hospital after being diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer in 2025. The schedule for the remaining columns has not yet been decided: Santegoeds said they might appear weekly or at a faster pace. [1]
Santegoeds said Spanjer enjoyed writing and had been encouraged to record what he experienced in hospital. He also recalled seeing him for a drink in late August, which he said neither of them expected to be their last. [1]
