Actors are seeking auditions for the Dutch voices of Bert and Ernie after Paul Haenen announced he was stopping his dubbing work.

Actors are contacting Wim Pel Productions to audition as the Dutch voices of Bert and Ernie, voice director Rutger Le Poole told JOE’s De Coen & Sander Show. His comments, reported by Nieuws.nl, follow Paul Haenen’s announcement last week that he is stopping his dubbing work. [1]
Le Poole said he wants performers who can act through the voices and convey the characters’ warmth and friendship, rather than simply imitate a sound. He does not want copies of the voices performed by Haenen and Wim T. Schippers for 50 years. [1]
Le Poole expects audiences to need time to get used to whoever takes over. During the radio show, he invited presenter Sander Lantinga to audition; Lantinga called it an honour. [1]
