Villa have drawn two and lost two of their opening four Women's Super League matches. Their 4–0 defeat by Tottenham on Sunday preceded the managerial change. BBC Sport says it was told the winless start led to the club’s decision. Arroyo was informed on Monday evening, and the players were told on Tuesday morning. [1]
Sorensen, a former Everton manager and Villa’s women’s technical adviser, takes over before Wednesday’s Women’s League Cup match against Newcastle, scheduled for 19:30 BST. Arroyo joined Villa in January 2025 and had two years left on her contract. [1]
