Barcelona has lodged a complaint with UEFA over a Paris Saint-Germain supporters’ banner displayed before Tuesday’s Champions League match in Paris, and says it also reported offensive chants from the stands.
A Barcelona spokesperson confirmed the complaint to Reuters on Wednesday, according to an ANP report carried by Nieuws.nl. The banner showed a masked figure in a PSG shirt using a chainsaw on Barcelona’s crest, beneath the words “Paris massacre”. The image was described as a reference to the 1974 horror film *The Texas Chain Saw Massacre*.
French newspaper L’Équipe reported that PSG had approved the banner in advance. The club had not responded to a request for comment at the time of the report. PSG beat Barcelona 4-2, handing them their first defeat of the season.
