Slovenia recorded more new .si domains in one day than in all of August, but the rise began before Trump’s UN speech.

Slovenia’s .si registry recorded 6,558 new domain registrations in the 24 hours before a 30 September snapshot. That is more than the 3,515 registered during the whole of August. The registry counted 227,646 .si domains in total. [1]
The surge has coincided with US President Donald Trump’s push to call artificial intelligence “super intelligence”, or SI. In a speech to the UN General Assembly on 22 September, he said US documents would adopt the term. Register.si spokesperson Klara Herman said requests for .si domains had risen sharply since the speech. ANP/AFP reported an average of 3,700 registrations a day over that period. [2] [3] [4]
The rise did not begin with the UN speech. Netcraft’s internet survey found an initial spike roughly three days earlier, followed by further acceleration. Register.si says registrations had already been growing for months and that debate over the new terminology also stimulated interest. [5] [7]
