The Dutch singer says politics is drawing attention away from the music and could put pressure on Eurovision performers.

Anouk, who represented the Netherlands at Eurovision in 2013, made the comments to RTL Boulevard on Wednesday, Nieuws.nl reported. She said she felt the focus was shifting away from music and that the contest had become more politically charged. [1]
She questioned whether artists would want to perform under those conditions. In her view, the pressure could affect their mental wellbeing and divert energy from singing, choreography and lighting. [1]
Her comments come after the NPO said it would take part in the contest, unlike AVROTROS, with an independent team handling the Dutch selection and entry. Anouk said she was curious who would represent the Netherlands and wished them success. [1]
