Queen Máxima was briefed on fishing-industry technology during a visit to VCU Robotics in Urk, the Netherlands. She heard about a robot that automatically packages salmon and a machine that shows on a screen where bones remain in a fish, making them easier to remove. [1]
VCU executive Arie Baak introduced her to work-study students who assemble and test the machines. Máxima asked whether they learnt more at school or through practical work, while Baak discussed the schools collaborating with the company. [1]
Baak also said VCU was working on a new building and hoped to secure municipal approval. Urk mayor Bart Jaspers Faijer was present during that conversation. [1]
