The Dutch football association has chosen a former trade union vice-chair to lead its amateur game from 15 December.

Boufangacha, 44, was appointed by the KNVB’s supervisory board. He will succeed Jan Dirk van der Zee, whose maximum 12-year term ends at the close of 2026. [1]
Boufangacha has spent the past 19 years at the Dutch trade union FNV, where he held roles including vice-chair. Janneke Brink-Daamen, speaking for the KNVB supervisory board, said his experience of handling differing interests and bringing people together would be valuable in the job. [1]
Boufangacha said he wanted to work with clubs, volunteers and colleagues to build on the quality and social contribution of amateur football. [1]
