Italian film director Tinto Brass has died in Rome aged 93, his family told the ANSA news agency, Nieuws.nl reported on Wednesday.
Brass was known for cult films including *Caligula* (1979), starring Helen Mirren, and the erotic comedy *All Ladies Do It* (1992), a bawdy adaptation of Mozart’s opera *Così fan tutte*. His last film, the short *Eve al Desnudo*, was made in 2015.
This year, Brass received the Premio Pietro Bianchi at the 83rd Venice Film Festival. The annual award is presented by Italy’s association of film journalists.
He is survived by his wife, Caterina Varzi, and children Bonifacio and Beatrice Brass.
