The Netherlands registered 20,035 new motorcycles from January to September 2026, surpassing the previously reported full-year high of 19,819 in 2024. ANP reported the figures, citing BOVAG, RAI Vereniging and RDC. The nine-month total was more than 15% above the 17,375 registrations recorded in the same period last year. [1]
The 2026 figure also exceeds the reported full-year total of 19,567 for 2025. ANP describes those earlier annual totals as sales figures, while its 2026 count is for registrations. In the third quarter alone, 6,003 new motorcycles were registered, nearly 16% more than a year earlier. [1]
Martijn van Eikenhorst, motorcycle section manager at RAI Vereniging, called the milestone a sign of motorcycling’s popularity. He said motorcycles are increasingly used for commuting, arguing that they take up less space and help traffic flow. [1]
