The Dutch healthcare regulator is pressing two insurers over access to essential medical supplies in urgent situations.
Review information is loading.
The assessment concerns access to medical supplies in urgent situations for people with diabetes, incontinence, or stoma and wound-care needs, including people outside hospital or in care institutions. The NZa’s investigation followed concerns raised by GPs, community nurses and pharmacists that patients and care providers were struggling to obtain the right supplies quickly in emergencies. [1]
All insurers examined have received letters setting out improvements. The NZa plans to meet the two insurers it has singled out and expects changes soon. It could impose tighter supervision if their response is insufficient. [1]
The two insurers are not named in the ANP account, which also gives no figure for how many patients may have faced delays. The NZa has not yet imposed tighter supervision. [1]
