The trio had set the fastest time in qualifying, three-tenths of a second ahead of China in second place. But the gap narrowed to one-tenth in the next round. Lavreysen said that left no room for error, while Van den Berg said the team had “made themselves angry” and shown its abilities. [1]
Lavreysen added his 21st track world title. Van den Berg said it was satisfying that the effort came together and that they could bring home the title again. [1]
