BBC: Carse on England contract list as Key says return remains possible

According to BBC Sport, Brydon Carse is among 39 players on England’s updated contract list, announced on Monday, 12 October. England director of cricket Rob Key said the fast bowler could play for the national side again, depending on the outcome of the Cricket Regulator case. [1]

Carse is on the list under his existing two-year deal, which runs until autumn 2027, and the updated list comprises 30 players with full contracts and nine with development deals, according to the BBC. [1]

In comments to the Test Match Special podcast reported by BBC Sport on 12 October, Rob Key said there was “a chance he can come back and play for England”. [1]

BBC Sport reports that Carse was arrested and then de-arrested after an incident outside a Derby nightclub in August, and that Derbyshire Police subsequently took no action over an assault allegation. The report also says the Cricket Regulator has charged Carse over an alleged breach of England and Wales Cricket Board professional conduct rules — a charge, not a finding that a breach occurred. Carse remains available for selection but has not been in an England squad since the incident while taking time away from international cricket, according to the BBC. [1]
