Marc Márquez won the Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix at Sepang on Sunday, extending his championship lead with three races remaining and moving closer to a ninth world title.
The Ducati rider finished ahead of fellow Spaniards Pedro Acosta and Álex Márquez. He now has 399 points, compared with 355 for Jorge Martín, who remains second despite withdrawing from the weekend before qualifying because of pain from a broken wrist.
Martín had tried to take part in the Malaysian Grand Prix but pulled out before qualifying. “I don’t need to think about the championship any more,” he said on Saturday.
Marco Bezzecchi is third in the standings on 332 points.
