Museums in the Netherlands recorded 31.6 million visits in 2025, up 2.6% from 30.8 million in 2024, the Museumvereniging reported. The total was close to, but still below, the 32.6 million visits recorded in 2019, before the pandemic. The figures are based on data from 492 museums affiliated with the association. [1]
Museumkaart holders made almost 9.7 million visits, a record for the card and 31% of the reported total. People under 18 made 6.1 million visits. Visitors from abroad accounted for 27% of visitors and mainly went to larger museums, particularly art museums in North Holland. [1]
The museums’ combined revenue was €1.38 billion, slightly more than in 2024. About half came from their own income, including admissions and shop sales, and the other half from subsidies. [1]
