Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has again rejected calls to resign as violent anti-government protests entered their sixth day in the capital, Tirana, on Sunday. Demonstrators are demanding action over conditions at universities, high tuition fees and corruption. [1]
Hundreds gathered outside the education ministry around midday, chanting “Rama, resign” during tense clashes with police. Police used water cannon and tear gas; they said protesters threw petrol bombs and fireworks. [1]
The latest unrest follows months of protests in Albania. The earlier demonstrations were initially fuelled by the development of a controversial resort linked to the family of US President Donald Trump, according to the report. [1]
