Katy Marchant has retired from cycling at 33, ending a 13-year career that included Britain’s first Olympic gold in the women’s team sprint. She won that medal with the British trio at the Paris Games in 2024. Her career ended with a team sprint silver at the Commonwealth Games in July. [1]
Marchant made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016, where she took bronze in the individual sprint. She also won World and European titles in 2024. [1]
Marchant considered competing at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, but said the decision to retire had not been difficult. She no longer wanted to make the choices required to pursue another Games, BBC Sport reported. [1]
