Botic van de Zandschulp has lost 4–6, 5–7 to Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilasjvili in the second round of the Chengdu tennis tournament. The Dutch fourth seed had a first-round bye, so it was his opening match of the event. [1]
Basilasjvili, ranked 145th in the world, broke Van de Zandschulp’s serve once in each set to secure the win, ANP reported. [1]
Van de Zandschulp had helped the Netherlands beat Colombia in the Davis Cup the previous weekend to reach next year’s Qualifiers. Fellow Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor, who also played in that tie, lost to Canada’s Denis Shapovalov in Chengdu’s first round on Thursday. [1]
