Consultant doctors in England will stage a two-day strike from 25 November, providing emergency cover only, in a dispute over pay and pensions, the BBC reports.
The walkout is due to begin at 06:59 GMT. It follows talks with the government over the past month, though the BBC report does not say whether those discussions have ended or what prompted the strike date.
In a British Medical Association ballot earlier this year, 76% of participating consultants voted for strike action. Turnout was just above the 50% threshold required. Consultants, the most senior doctors in the NHS, received a 3.5% pay increase this year.
