France’s provisional harmonised inflation rate rose from 2.6% in August to 3.4% in September, Reuters reported, citing figures from the national statistics agency Insee. On France’s separate national consumer price index, inflation rose from 2.4% to 3.0%. [1]
ANP/Bloomberg attributed the acceleration to high fuel prices linked to the war in the Middle East. Spain’s comparable harmonised rate was estimated at 5.0%. [2]
The figures come ahead of Eurostat’s flash estimate for September inflation across the euro area, scheduled for 2 October. [3]
