US shares were mixed at Tuesday’s open as investors awaited inflation and jobs figures that could shape the market’s outlook.

Shortly after the opening bell on Tuesday, 29 September, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.2% at 51,360 points. The S&P 500 was practically unchanged at 7,684, while the Nasdaq rose 0.1% to 26,849. ANP said investors were awaiting US inflation figures and a government jobs report due later in the week. It also cited a reported lack of progress in US–Iran peace talks as weighing on appetite for risk. [1]
Chip-related shares fared better in early trading: Marvell Technology, Micron Technology and Broadcom posted gains of up to 3.8%, while Nvidia rose 0.8%. [1]
