Cave Rescue Organisation volunteers and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue responded to Pecca Falls after 15:15 BST on Saturday. Penny, an eight-year-old Labrador, had fallen into the river before climbing onto a rocky ledge about 2m (6.5ft) above the water, at the bottom of a 12m (40ft) cliff. [1]
A volunteer was lowered by rope to reach her. Penny was then brought up the gorge and reunited with her owners. [1]
The fire service’s Ripon swiftwater rescue team supported the operation from downstream of where Penny was stranded. [1]
