The government wants to ease the burden on informal carers, but its new agenda leaves the delivery of that wider ambition unclear.

ANP reports that the Dutch cabinet presented a new agenda for informal carers on Friday, setting out an ambition to improve support over the coming years. But the agency says the cabinet has not yet made clear how it will deliver that broader goal. [1]
Care minister Mirjam Sterk said in a parliamentary letter that the government would build on earlier plans to raise awareness, improve support and make it easier to combine caring with work or education. She also wants care responsibilities shared more widely and professional help available when informal networks cannot provide the care needed. [1]
The agenda does include planned steps, according to ANP. The agency says the cabinet intends to set up a team with the Association of Netherlands Municipalities to help local authorities provide more support. ANP also reports plans for awareness campaigns and research, and says Social Affairs and Employment Minister Hans Vijlbrief is working on an informal-care leave scheme. [1]
