Crane, 29, last played for England in his only Test, against Australia in Sydney in 2018. He had previously made two T20 international appearances in 2017. This season he took 34 County Championship wickets and scored his first two first-class centuries. England national selector Marcus North said Crane’s performances for Glamorgan had earned him another opportunity. [1]
Sam Curran and Adil Rashid return after injuries, while James Coles and Henry Crocombe are included as uncapped players. Archer will not travel to Pakistan; BBC Sport describes his absence as a sign of how England could manage its pace bowlers over the winter. [1]
England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to play each other twice, with the top two reaching the final. [1]
