The Netherlands came back from 2–0 down at half-time to draw 2–2 away to Greece in the Nations League on 1 October. After the match, coach Xavi Hernández apologised for his team’s first-half performance and said he had chosen the wrong system and approach, ANP reported. [1]
Hernández had started Quinten Timber and Guus Til in midfield instead of Ryan Gravenberch and Tijjani Reijnders, following a 2–1 win away to Serbia the previous Sunday. At half-time in Greece, he brought on Gravenberch and Reijnders for Timber and Til. [1]
Hernández said he was pleased with the team’s response and praised its second-half attacking play, while saying it needed more time to develop. The draw left the Netherlands second in Group 2 of League A, with Serbia due to visit Eindhoven on Sunday. [1]
