BBC Sport journalist Alex Bysouth has named Gareth Bale his top British football export of the century, putting him ahead of Steve McManaman and Harry Kane.

In a personal top ten published by BBC Sport on 1 October, senior journalist Alex Bysouth puts Steve McManaman second, Harry Kane third and Jude Bellingham fourth behind Bale. Owen Hargreaves, Scott McTominay, David Beckham, Jadon Sancho, Fikayo Tomori and Kieran Trippier complete the list, in that order. [1]
Bysouth points to Bale’s five Champions League winner’s medals with Real Madrid, which he says exceed the total held by the other nine players on his list combined. He places Kane just ahead of Bellingham, favouring the striker’s individual form at Bayern Munich despite Bellingham’s Champions League title. [1]
