Frances Tiafoe has qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin after fellow American Tommy Paul lost to Ben Shelton in the Paris Masters quarter-finals.
Tiafoe is the seventh player to secure a place at the season-ending tournament, which brings together the leading men’s players later this month. Paul’s 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 defeat meant he could no longer catch Tiafoe in the race for qualification.
Five other players had already qualified: Shelton, Germany’s Alexander Zverev, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Italy’s Flavio Cobolli.
One place remains. Jannik Sinner has ended his season because of injury, while Taylor Fritz and Spain’s Rafael Jodar are still in contention for the final spot.
