Two people have been arrested after a car was damaged by gunfire in Morriston, Swansea, prompting police to declare a critical incident and tell residents to avoid the area.
South Wales Police said the vehicle, on the A48, had damage “consistent with a firearms discharge”. A 41-year-old man from Llansamlet was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. A 16-year-old boy, also from Llansamlet, was arrested on suspicion of affray.
The incident was ongoing, with road closures in place, and police said their investigation was continuing. Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones said officers would remain visible in the area and urged people to stay away while police dealt with the incident.
Morriston Town AFC cancelled a planned fireworks display on Friday after police advised it to do so. The club also urged people to stay at home.
The BBC reported that video circulating online showed officers beside a stationary car that appeared to have been struck by a shotgun blast on Clase Road, near an Asda supermarket. Police have not publicly confirmed the type of firearm used.
