Volkswagen plans to terminate most of its collective labour agreements at the end of 2026 as it seeks to revise workplace arrangements and cut costs. IG Metall says 10 agreements are affected, including a framework agreement. [1]

IG Metall negotiator Thorsten Gröger sharply criticised the move and said strikes could be possible from January 2027 to restore the agreements. Earlier this year, Volkswagen set out plans to cut a further 50,000 jobs, on top of previous workforce measures. [1]
