NEC have added 26-year-old defender Mitchel Bakker to their squad on a one-year contract, with an option for a further season, Dutch news agency ANP reported on 8 October. [1]
Bakker joined the Nijmegen club’s training camp on trial in September. He was available as a free agent after his contract with Italian club Atalanta was dissolved early that month.
A former Netherlands youth international, Bakker came through Ajax’s academy and moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. He later played for Bayer Leverkusen and spent time on loan at Lille. [1]
NEC, managed by Dick Schreuder, were 11th in the Eredivisie with eight points from seven matches at the time of the report. Their next league match was scheduled away to fifth-placed Ajax on Saturday. [1]
