Player sales helped lift AZ’s reported annual profit to €12 million, despite lower European competition income and higher costs.
Review information is loading.
AZ says it made a €12 million profit last season, €2 million more than the year before, after player sales brought in tens of millions of euros. The transfers included Ruben van Bommel, Jayden Addai, David Møller Wolfe and Ernest Poku, according to an ANP report published by Nieuws.nl. [1]
The club would have made a €15 million loss without transfer income, ANP reported. Other income fell because playing in the Conference League brought in less than the previous season’s Europa League campaign. Costs rose after AZ hired more staff and remained in both the Conference League and the Dutch cup competition for extended runs. [1]
AZ is adding the profit to its equity, bringing the total to €93 million. The club expects to break even this season as it makes further investments. [1]
