New Zealand scored four second-half tries to beat Scotland 43-21 at Murrayfield, turning a three-point half-time lead into a convincing Nations Championship victory.
Scotland hooker Ewan Ashman scored a hat-trick before the break, with the first half ending 24-21 to the All Blacks after seven tries. But New Zealand shut Scotland out after the interval, with Josh Moorby, Beauden Barrett and Asafo Aumua among the scorers as the visitors won the second half 19-0.
Wallace Sititi opened the scoring for New Zealand. Ashman replied, but tries from Ethan de Groot and Codie Taylor helped the visitors build a 17-7 lead. New Zealand’s Peter Lakai was sent to the sin-bin, and Ashman scored while the All Blacks were down to 14. Barrett then crossed before Sititi was also shown a yellow card, allowing Ashman to complete his hat-trick from a line-out maul.
New Zealand took control after the break, scoring through Moorby and Barrett before Aumua finished a set-piece move for their seventh try. Damian McKenzie kicked four conversions.
The result continues Scotland’s wait for a first Test win over New Zealand. The BBC account says the All Blacks have now won 32 of the teams’ 34 meetings, with the other two drawn.
