The recommended price of petrol in the Netherlands fell by nearly five cents a litre this week, after reaching a record high on Saturday, according to Dutch news agency ANP. Euro95 was priced at €2.684 a litre on Friday, down from €2.732 on Saturday. [1]
The fall put petrol back below diesel: the recommended diesel price on Friday was €2.703 a litre. These recommended prices are often charged only at the more expensive motorway petrol stations, so drivers may pay less elsewhere. [1]
Oil prices also eased slightly this week, while pump prices typically respond to changes in oil prices with a delay. Brent crude was trading at just over $105 a barrel on Friday, ANP reported. [1]
The report linked high fuel prices to continuing tensions in the Middle East and said the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for fuel transport, had been largely closed since the US and Israeli attack on Iran at the end of February. [1]
