Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Burkardt have been moved into Germany’s squad for Sunday’s Nations League match against Greece, replacing the injured Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz, according to an ANP/DPA report published by Nieuws.nl. Coach Jürgen Klopp brought the pair forward from the group selected for Germany’s later fixtures. [1]
The changes follow Thursday’s 1–1 draw with the Netherlands in Amsterdam. Musiala suffered a muscle tear during the warm-up, the report said, citing a German football federation announcement on Friday. Havertz came off after half an hour and was reported to have a muscle strain. [1]
Wirtz and Burkardt were already part of Klopp’s wider selection rather than fresh call-ups. He initially named 44 players across four matches: the Netherlands, Greece, Serbia and Greece again. The original arrangement assigned 24 players to the first two fixtures, with the other 20 forming the group for the final two, joined by four players from the first group. [1]
The report gives no recovery timetable for Musiala or Havertz. Wirtz and Burkardt’s inclusion in the squad does not confirm a place in Sunday’s starting line-up. [1]
