The Netherlands recorded its warmest 30 September at the official De Bilt weather station on Wednesday, with the temperature reaching 24.5°C and surpassing a record set in 1975. Official heat records are based on readings at De Bilt. [1]
Elsewhere, Hupsel reached 27.1°C at noon, breaking a nationwide record for a local 30 September reading dating back to 1895. The KNMI station at Twente Airport later recorded 28.5°C. Weeronline said this was the 13th day of 2026 with a heat record, following another on Tuesday. [1]
Temperatures around this time of year are usually about 17°C, ANP reported. Warm air from southern Europe drove Wednesday’s heat; rain was forecast for the evening, followed by cooler weather. [1]
