Judi Dench says she cannot bear to watch the 2019 film *Cats*, in which she played Old Deuteronomy, but also says she has never seen its final cut and cannot judge it. Her comments appear in her forthcoming autobiography, *Is It Too Late to Make a Run For It*, according to Nieuws.nl, which attributes its report to *The Independent*. [1]
“Oh God, I can’t stand it,” Dench writes of the film, calling it “a waste of all that goodwill and talent”. She says she understands why critics reacted negatively, while stressing that she has not watched the finished version. [1]
Dench also writes that people do not set out to give a bad performance or make a bad film. Sometimes, she says, the timing is wrong, actors do not click or the elements fail to come together, even when people’s intentions are good. [1]
She was nominated for a Razzie, an award for poor film performances, for her role. James Corden, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba and Jennifer Hudson were also in the cast. [1]
