Dutch rail operator NS says it shares concerns raised by employees, unions and politicians about the safety of railway staff. Responding to a letter from rail workers’ union VVMC, NS said every incident was one too many and that everyone should be able to work safely, Dutch news agency ANP reported. [1]
In its letter, issued on Tuesday, VVMC said violent incidents on the railways were increasing in both frequency and severity. The union called for more authorised security personnel on trains. [1]
NS said all its head conductors would receive body cameras in 2026. It has also begun a trial of batons for its Safety and Service staff and is recruiting more people for that team. [1]
