Former Danish queen Margrethe has presented Greenlandic journalist Masaana Egede with the 2026 Ebbe Munck honorary award, recognising his work for reliable journalism in both Greenlandic and Danish.
Egede is editor-in-chief of Greenlandic media company Sermitsiaq. The Danish royal court also cited his contribution to freedom of expression and informed debate in Greenland. Margrethe presented the award on Tuesday at Fredensborg Palace, according to Nieuws.nl, which said the court shared images of the ceremony on Instagram.
The prize honours the work of Danish journalist, resistance fighter and diplomat Ebbe Munck. It has been awarded since 1975 to people who have made contributions in similar fields, the court said. Margrethe is patron of the Ebbe Munck memorial foundation, which organises the award.
