Thomas Markle, the father of the Duchess of Sussex, has denied having a storage unit in the Mexican city of Rosarito after the Daily Mail reported finding suspected child sexual abuse images in a unit it linked to him.
“I had no storage units in Rosarito!” Markle told the Daily Mail on 31 October, according to The Blast. The outlet reported that the newspaper maintained that rental records connected him to the unit. Who rented the space and who owned its contents remain disputed.
The Daily Mail said its journalists found magazines containing images of child sexual abuse in the unit, according to Nieuws.nl. The newspaper said it had alerted the FBI, TMZ reported.
The Blast also reported that Mexican authorities searched the unit on 31 October and removed items including a computer, tapes and magazines.
The report comes amid a separate Philippine police investigation. Markle’s son, Thomas Markle Jr, handed police four boxes containing items including computers, phones and hard drives, according to Nieuws.nl. He alleged that he had found child sexual abuse images among his father’s belongings. Markle Sr has denied his son’s allegations.
