The members of the Dutch band Racoon have been made Knights of the Order of Orange-Nassau for their contribution to music and long-standing work for Zeeland and charitable causes. Goes mayor Cees van den Bos presented the royal honour on Saturday before the band’s concert at the Zeelandhallen, Nieuws.nl reports.
Racoon has for years supported Villa Joep, a foundation working for children with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer. Singer Bart van der Weide has a personal connection to the foundation and wrote the song “Don’t Give Up The Fight”, with proceeds going to the charity.
