NAC Breda says it will seek the toughest possible measures against whoever set off fireworks at its away match against Vitesse on Saturday, 3 October. Five people were injured. General director Remco Oversier said the club would pursue punishment while an investigation continues. [1]
According to NAC, the fireworks were set off at half-time in a toilet in the away section, injuring three supporters and two stewards. The club said on Monday that police had arrested a suspect who was still being held at the time of its statement. [1]
The match was played at Vitesse’s GelreDome and finished 2–2. [2]
NAC also reported incidents between groups of supporters after the match that required police intervention. It said it was examining those incidents with Vitesse and local authorities, and had contacted the injured people to offer follow-up care where needed. [1]
