Two Sudanese men suspected of people-smuggling have been remanded in custody for a further two weeks after a migrant boat was intercepted off the Zeeland coast, the Dutch Public Prosecution Service says.
The rubber boat, carrying 38 people, was spotted early on Saturday and towed to Cadzand. The two suspects were among 36 Afghan men on board; six of the Afghans were minors.
The boat had no engine and was adrift. It is not clear where the passengers boarded or where they were heading. The prosecution service says it will not release further information while the suspects remain under restrictions that allow them to speak only to their lawyer.
