Radio presenter Erik de Zwart has received a special Top 4000 Ere-Icoon Award from Radio 10, which honoured him for creating the annual music chart in 2005.
His daughters presented the award during a live broadcast of Jeroen Nieuwenhuize’s programme on Friday, Nieuws.nl reported. The surprise came as voting opened for the chart’s 22nd edition, due to be broadcast from 27 November to 24 December.
De Zwart said he was moved by the gesture and had not imagined the chart would become such a lasting tradition. He said music brought memories to life and connected people.
