Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported two drone impacts near the supports of the Southern Bridge on Thursday. The Associated Press described the drones as Russian. Metro trains and buses were initially stopped from crossing while the bridge was checked. [2] [9]
Kyiv’s transport department said a blast wave pushed dust through the ventilation system of a moving metro train at about 11.30am. The passengers and driver were unharmed, and the train was sent to a depot for inspection. The department said its windows and structure were undamaged, contradicting earlier reports that windows had been blown out. [3] [1]
By its 2pm update, the city said a preliminary inspection had found no critical damage to the bridge and buses 22 and 91 were returning to their usual routes. Metro trains remained on separate sections of the green line while checks continued. [4]
