The Netherlands’ Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) received sharply more questions and negative signals about financial influencers and online investment content during summer 2026, ANP reported. The rise was in contacts reaching the watchdog, not a count of misleading posts. [1]
The AFM warned that investment content can, deliberately or inadvertently, spread misinformation, lead to poor investments or contribute to fraud. It said people could choose products unsuited to their finances or lose money after following a financial influencer towards an illegal provider. [1]
