Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, made her first official public appearance since returning to the UK on Thursday, joining Prince Harry on visits to three community organisations in Nottingham. The couple said they were there to support projects they believe in, rather than as working royals. [1]
At the Community Recording Studio, a youth charity Harry has supported since 2013, Meghan greeted people in the crowd and joined a friendship-bracelet workshop. She said her daughter, Princess Lilibet, had taken up gymnastics and told young people: “We have to remember to talk to ourselves like we talk to our best friends.” [1]
The couple later visited Himmah Hub, which works to tackle food poverty, where they watched cooking classes and helped prepare food parcels. They also met women who had cooked for families affected by the Grenfell Tower fire and featured in a community cookbook championed by Meghan. [1]
Their final stop was Epic Partners, which supports young people through youth work, sport and mentoring. [1]
Harry and Meghan, with their children, returned to the UK in August after six years in the United States. Their Nottingham visit was their first joint public engagement in the city since 2017, when they appeared there after announcing their engagement. [1]
