Belgian sprinter Tim Merlier won the final stage of the Eneco Tour in Arnhem, beating Dylan Groenewegen and Davide Donati in a sprint after 149km. Victor Campenaerts, Merlier’s compatriot and a Visma–Lease a Bike rider, claimed the overall title [1].
Dutch rider Michiel Mouris was the last member of the breakaway to be caught, just after the race entered its final eight-kilometre lap. Groenewegen was well positioned with his Unibet Rose Rockets team, but could not match Merlier’s sprint, according to ANP’s report [1].
Campenaerts took the leader’s jersey on Friday by finishing second in the third stage, behind Mick van Dijke. Van Dijke’s win was the only stage victory by a Dutch rider in the men’s race, formerly known as the Tour of Holland [1].
