The 135-metre Terra 2 has left Düsseldorf harbour and resumed its journey towards the Netherlands, a spokesperson for logistics company Mosolf told German news agency dpa. The vessel ran aground on a sandbank on Monday amid low water levels on the Rhine. [1]
Attempts to shift its cargo and use an anchor winch failed to free it. Another cargo vessel later pushed the Terra 2 off the sandbank as it left the harbour. [1]
The Terra 2 returned to harbour to unload some of its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans and reduce its weight. The water level had also risen slightly before it set off again. [1]
