King Frederik, Queen Mary and Princess Benedikte initially could not reach their seats at the opening of Denmark’s parliament on Tuesday because a barrier rope was still closed, Nieuws.nl reports. [1]
Describing footage shared by Danish media, Nieuws.nl says Frederik tried to walk around the rope but found a railing in his way. He then tried to undo the rope with help from a parliamentary employee. Mary and Benedikte, on the other side, also began handling the rope before someone helped them. [1]
Nieuws.nl also reports that Søren Gade stepped down as the parliament’s chair on Tuesday and that Hendrik Frandsen would succeed him. [1]
